Swedbank wants to contribute to making both Gothenburg and the Västra Götaland region good places to live. They want to give individuals and companies a chance to create a better future. This vision aligns with their sponsorships and partnerships, so they do a lot of work aimed at young people. They want to help young people get a good start in life – in relation to both physical and mental health.
The Gothenburg Opera's department for young people - Skapa - creates experiences, participation activities and artistic development for people of all ages and experiences. Skapa brings together Gothenburg Opera's activities relating to children and young people, families, co-creation and participation. They believe that performing arts should be accessible to everyone. Through this partnership, Swedbank contributes to sustainable development for children and young people, helping them find their context in and through art and music.
Swedbank donates a large pool of tickets that are used to invite groups that do not usually come to the Gothenburg Opera. Through collaboration with, for example, Save the Children, we can reach new target groups, and through Swedbank’s group of young adults, we attract musical experiences that are not usually on its calendar.
Together with Swedbank’s lawyer, we have mixed and adapted the offering using Swedbank’s model as a template. In 2023, the Gothenburg Opera introduced what we now call Cultural Hero tickets.
In February 2022, Swedbank donated roughly 100 tickets to children and young people for the dance performance Here not here with Gothenburg Opera's Danskompani. The visitors were a diverse mix of high school students, whom Swedbank had met during lectures on economics for young people, as well as members from Save the Children's girls’ and mothers’ groups. We had coffee and talked before, during and after the visit.
Susan Stieger Petrusson is operational manager for regional business collaborations at Rädda Barnen:
“We were so happy to get the opportunity! We invited participants from three of our activities in north-east Gothenburg: Tjejforum, which consists of high school students, young leaders from the activity Doit and a group of mothers from Mammaforum. Several had seen the building before but had never been inside it. It was great to be able to invite them to this evening.”
