Tobias Ringborg

Tobias Ringborg, conductor, is established as a conductor, soloist and chamber musician in opera houses and on concert platforms. His career started in 1994 when he won the Soloist Prize. That same year, he obtained his soloist diploma at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and his violin studies were completed after that at The Juilliard School in New York. Ringborg has appeared with most Swedish and a number of Danish orchestras, often both as a soloist and conductor. As an opera conductor he made his début in 2001 at Folkoperan, and since then he has been linked to the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm and has conducted productions at venues such as the Malmö Opera, NorrlandsOperan, the Danish National Opera, the Leipzig Opera, Scottish Opera and Opera North in England. In 2005, he made his London début with the English Chamber Orchestra in the Barbican Hall, as both soloist and conductor. He has played in the bel canto opera Cristina Regina di Svezia by Jacopo Foroni (1849) with the chorus and orchestra from the Göteborg Opera. In recent seasons, Ringborg has for example conducted the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra at the Nobel Prize awards ceremony in 2011, Rigoletto at the Royal Swedish Opera and Scottish Opera, L'Elisir d'Amore in Dalhalla, Swan Lake at the Norwegian National Opera, Don Giovanni at the Danish National Opera and Opera North, Turandot at the Göteborg Opera and the Royal Swedish Opera, Die Fledermaus at the Norwegian National Opera and Madame Butterfly at the New Zealand Opera. This season, in addition to L'Elisir d'Amore, he is also conducting Verdi's Macbeth at Opera North. Since 2011, he has been a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music.
