Opera rehearsal: The Bartered Bride

Main Stage

Eavesdrop as singers and orchestra rehearse the opera The Bartered Bride together for the first time om the Main Stage. The composer is Smetana, who lived in Gothenburg for five years, and who has imbued this comic opera with irresistible charm. It offers romantic arias, lively choruses and Czech folk music. The Bartered Bride will see its premiere later this fall in a staging by director Mellika Melouani Melani, who dusts off this Czech national-romantic opera and imbues it with punky love, strong desires and violent rebellion against traditional norms.
