See you at Open House 13 April!

Welcome to a day for the whole family!

On Thursday during the Easter school holidays, we’ll open the house to all curious children and their grown-ups. This year’s theme is hope. Take a peek at a rehearsal in the auditorium, be directed, listen to our singers singing about hope, dress up in stage costumes, take a guided tour behind the scenes or take part in the many other activities listed below.

Ticket booking information will be published on this page in the upcoming weeks before the Open Day.

Free activities

All day (11am – 3pm, no ticket required)

Small Stage

Try on theatre costumes, be directed by a stage director, try out lights and sounds, pat the robot dog Grim, watch how hats and wigs are made, how we work with leather as well as how we make props and costumes look older than they are – giving them a “patina”.

Main Stage

Take a peek in the auditorium to see musical artists and the Göteborg Opera Orchestra rehearse Märchen im Grand-Hotel. Note: break in rehearsal 12.30–1.15pm

Foyer

Make something to help you feel hopeful, get your face painted by one of our make-up artists, watch a wig being made (11.30am & 1.30pm, see below) and go on an Easter egg hunt, with a chance to win great prizes.

Throughout the day artists and musicians from the house will perform musical interludes in the foyer.

More about

Be directed

Do something hopeful! Bring someone you like and be directed by one of our stage directors. Simple and short, but oh so fun and dramatic! No prior experience needed – we’ll just try it out and explain along the way.

Workshop: Astronaut

For everyone 5 and up (both children and their grown-ups). No prior dance experience needed. Dance like an astronaut! Try dance moves from Astronaut, together with dancers from GöteborgsOperans Danskompani.

Food and drink

The café is open 11am–3pm. The restaurant will serve lunch from 11.30am – 3.00pm
