A breathtaking evening by Damien Jalet, a choreographer who tames the forces of nature. Both of his works created for GöteborgsOperans Danskompani will be performed together for the first time, as was originally intended.

Damien Jalet is a multiple award-winning choreographer whose acclaimed works weave together different art forms. The sloping angles in Skid and the winds in Kites can be glimpsed in the Grammy-nominated music film Anima on Netflix – by Thom Yorke, Paul Thomas Anderson and Damien Jalet – in which GöteborgsOperans Danskompani features.

Please note: Due to a technically advanced set change, the interval between Skid and Kites will be 60 minutes long. Pre-book your interval refreshments, and pass the time conversing with your companions instead of queueing. Read the menu and make reservations here. You can also experience dance in VR! VR glasses are available in the foyer.

Skid

“An outstanding masterpiece” — Göteborgs-Posten
“Vertiginous, death defying dance” — GT

The stage floor in Damien Jalet’s Skid is on a 34-degree incline. The human relationship to gravity and the resistance and abandonment bound to it is what sets the dancers in motion. This new landscape of physical possibilities creates a chain reaction of physical and emotional events – dangerous, humorous, moving.
