“Stillness thru movement” is a photographic exhibition that presents the meeting between the iconic photographer Anton Corbijn and GöteborgsOperans Danskompani. The exhibition will be opened on 3 November at 12.00 pm by Anton Corbijn and Katrín Hall, Artistic Director GöteborgsOperans Danskompani.

Anton Corbijn’s lens has captured many of the foremost artists of the past half-century. GöteborgsOperans Danskompani, made up of 38 dancers from 22 different countries, are acclaimed as one of the best companies of our time.

In the spring of 2023, Anton Corbiijn joined the company on their tour to Sadler’s Wells in London. He documented them over a few days as they rehearsed and performed Skid by Damien Jalet and SAABA by Sharon Eyal. The result is Stillness thru movement, 21 photos that give you this iconic photographer’s perspective on our dancers, the company and the artform.

The exhibition will run until 12 December – it is open to view whenever the opera house is open.

The project has been made possible thanks to support from Göteborg & Co, the official destination management organisation of the City of Gothenburg and the metropolitan area.

”I was blown away by the performances and thoroughly enjoyed the immersive experience that the company allowed me to have over 3 days in London in May this year. What a great group of people and what a wonderful canvas for a photographer. THANK YOU!”

”It has been a fantastic journey to experience Anton Corbijn’s fresh perspective on the world that we live and work in every day. Apart from being a well-documented visual genius Anton is also a gentleman and a very inspirational individual to be around – curious, smart, funny and warm. He is always trying to move forward and explore new worlds creatively, just like we do as a company. We are incredibly grateful for this stimulating collaboration and hope that everybody who sees the images also will enjoy the result.”
