Two choreographers with strong links to GöteborgsOperans Danskompani each present a world premiere. Both Shechter and Weinberger began their careers with the world-famous Batsheva Dance Company before going on to establish themselves as choreographers. Tom Weinberger is also a former member of GöteborgsOperans Danskompani. Hofesh Shechter and our company are a perfect match that have already enjoyed massive success with the show Contemporary Dance in 2019.

Waltz with the Beast by Tom Weinberger

Tom Weinberger’s uplifting work is a hybrid of theatre and dance in which he loves to add touches of the surreal and the absurd. He amplifies his scenes with the spoken word, sound effects and projections, in a fragmentary flow with glimpses of irony. A sharply contrasting mosaic of strong physical expression, love, warmth, sarcasm and chaos.

Waltz with the Beast includes spoken text. It is not necessary to understand all of the script to experience the piece, so the text will not be displayed as surtitles.
