Dance work by Kenneth Kvarnström with Ane Brun

“Artistic success” Svenska Dagbladet
“Pure carnival joy” Göteborgs-Posten
“So damn excellent” Borås Tidning
“An incredibly aesthetically conscious and appealing work” Svenska Dagbladet
“Great entertainment at an exceptional artistic level.” alba.nu

In spring 2023, the audience packed the auditorium to experience the incomparable staged artwork 12 Songs. It combines seriousness and folly, dance cascades and poetry, universal longing and curious joy. Ane Brun performs live on stage throughout the performance, together with GöteborgsOperans Danskompani, the Göteborg Opera Orchestra and guest musicians.

The Norwegian, Stockholm-based singer Ane Brun has a large audience in the Nordics and the world. Awarded multiple times, she has made many acclaimed stage appearances with symphony orchestras and performed in sold-out arenas and in connection with the Nobel Prize.

“Dance is an art form that is very close to my heart and when it works, it is very strong. It hits so hard!” Ane Brun

The Finn Kenneth Kvarnström is one of the Nordics’ most significant choreographers. He has also been dance director at cultural institutions such as Dansens Hus and Kulturhuset Stadsteatern in Stockholm. His choreography speaks a clear language, where the musicality of the flow of movement is interwoven with the sung text.

Fashion and costume designer Astrid Olsson is responsible for the costumes – her stage creations are an experience in themselves. The costumes evolve in pace with the twelve songs, developing from minimalist to extravagant.
