The recital series Grandi Voci (Italian for ‘great voices’) brings you some of our finest singers and pianists in a heartfelt and intimate atmosphere.

A recital is a great way to get up close to the music and performers. The singer chooses the programme in consultation with the pianist. The selected pieces reflect their strengths, and the programme is highly personal. Each song is a microcosm that encapsulates an entire world or a compelling life experience. Songs from different eras, countries and styles create an infinite range of moods. During the 2024/2025 season, you can experience four magnificent voices, each in a separate recital.

Malin Byström & Magnus Svensson

French, German and Swedish songs performed by internationally acclaimed soprano Malin Byström and pianist Magnus Svensson.

Court singer (Hovsångare) Malin Byström is one of the world’s leading sopranos, appearing regularly on stages such as the Metropolitan Opera and Covent Garden. She debuted at the Royal Opera House in London in 2002, and was named Female Singer of the Year by the jury of the prestigious International Opera Awards in 2018. She made her Swedish opera debut as Marguerite in Gounod’s Faust at the Göteborg Opera in 2007. Three years later, she earned accolades in the title role of Massenet’s Thaïs, which she later performed opposite Plácido Domingo.

With all the rich nuances of a lyric dramatic voice and a charismatic stage presence, Malin Byström has delighted audiences at major opera houses worldwide in roles including Salome, Elisabeth de Valois in Don Carlos, Tosca and the Marschallin in Der Rosenkavalier.

Pianist Magnus Svensson is one of Sweden’s leading interpreters of the classical piano repertoire, with art song as a speciality. He performs solo concerts and accompanies celebrated international singers, primarily in Scandinavia but also in the United States.
